Garden Summerhouse – guidelines for setting out for the garden building

Before marking out the position for your new Garden Building it is very worthwhile to consider a few guidelines for optimum satisfaction:

• ensure that there is sufficient space for a comfortable and uninhibited access avoid positioning doors too close to boundary fences or planted areas
• if you are planning to include a patio or sitting out area next to the building, ensure that the doors can be conveniently opened or closed, also ensure that the sitting out area has sufficient space to accommodate any tables or chairs and that there is uninhibited access to the garden building
• the Victorian Garden Buildings are as much a focal point as well as a feature in the garden, try to display the distinctive building profile so that the hexagonal/octagonal shape is clearly visible (tip – avoid front on views of a flat side, simple rotate the building slightly left or right to your preferred position
• if you prefer to enjoy a sunny aspect, position the garden building so as to maximise enjoyment of the sun
• garden buildings require solid and level bases, check all base details to ensure that it complies with the required dimensions of your selected building design
• it is very useful to mark the ground and walk around the space to check dimensions and positions of all key elements including doors, paths, patio etc are correct and satisfactory. There are various methods of marking the ground ( flexible garden hose, sand, wooden pegs or ideally marking spray (available from any good Builders Merchants/DIY store/Hire shop)
• following these simple guidelines will ensure that the base is positioned to provide good visibility of the garden building and maximum enjoyment of your preferred position and you can proceed with confidence to the next stage of excavating the ground and installing the base for the garden building.
